I began studying music and performance by gaining experience in classical singing and piano by studying ABRSM grades. I additionally became trained in musical theatre after studying on a part time basis at Sylvia Young Theatre School and becoming a member of Musical Youth Company of Oxford. At 21, after studying for three years at the British & Irish Institute of Modern Music in Bristol, I completed my BA (Hons) in Professional Musicianship with a 2:1, where I studied a range of musical styles, theory and teaching practice. This variety of training allowed me to become a versatile musician and teacher, with experience in many genres of music.
I am a Grade 8 Singing, Grade 8 Music Theory and Grade 5 Piano. As a musician, I play around Bristol and record with my bands, however my own music teaching practice inspires me to keep on learning new information, and practice to a high standard on my own instruments. I would like to offer an encouraging teaching style at a pace which is right for the student.
From my own musicianship, I hope I can bring my creativity and inspiration for my music to the students I teach, so they are as excited as I am about the different possibilities studying music can uncover.
